Shadow Work and the Tarot
Tuesday, May 27 at 6pm
In Person or via Zoom $44 per person
In this workshop led by Jezmina Von Thiele, we explore the archetype of the Romani witch Choxani, delving into the realms of Shadow Work using tarot as a helpful tool.
The Choxani is a Romani folkloric witch who, like many other witches in folklore, is elemental, fierce, lives deep in the woods, and can be both helpful and fearsome. In many stories, the Choxani punishes Roma for straying from the culture. In a contemporary setting, she can be seen as a figure who lets you know when you’re not acting right for the good of the self and the community.
In this workshop, we will explore the archetype of the witch in folklore, and how connecting with the shadow witch can be empowering, healing, and ego-shattering. We will also look at the contemporary intersectional feminist figure of the witch among Romani activists and artists. We will use journaling, ritual, tarot spreads, and spell writing as a way to dig deep into honoring the scary parts of ourselves, and heal and empower whatever comes up for transformation.
