Learn how to craft your own sigils through an exploration of symbolism and history

Deadwick's is excited to introduce local New England author and artist, Laura Tempest Zakroff, as our newest guest teacher, with her workshop The Art of Sigil Witchery.

LTZ is the author of multiple best-selling books including Sigil Witchery: A Witch’s Guide to Crafting Magick Symbols (Gold COVR Award winner),Weave the Liminal: Living Modern Traditional Witchcraft (2019), Anatomy of a Witch: A Map to the Magical Body (2021), and Visual Alchemy: A Witch’s Guide to Sigils, Art & Magic (Gold COVR Award winner, released 2022). She is the author of The Witch’s Cauldron and co-author (with Jason Mankey) of The Witch’s Altar—as well as co-author with Ivo Dominguez Jr for Gemini Witch (2023).

Her first oracle deck, The Liminal Spirits Oracle, was released in June 2020 from Llewellyn Worldwide and won a Silver COVR Award and the ITF CARTA Awards Best Oracle Deck of the Year. Her second oracle deck, The Anatomy of a Witch Oracle, was released in late 2022 and also received a COVR Award. Her third deck, The Sigil Witchery Oracle – was released in October of 2024.

Sigils are magical symbols that are designed to influence ourselves and the world around us. Explore a fresh, innovative and intuitive approach to crafting your own designs. Tracing through history, art, and culture, we’ll look at the basic elements that make up all symbols, consider meanings, and see how to safely and respectfully incorporate them into your own personal practice. Please bring a writing implement and notebook.

This workshop will run approximately an hour and a half, and will take place in the Deadwick's Common Room at 19 Sheafe St. Books and decks will be available for purchase, as well as some of Laura's original artwork.
